Some more news on the 4th MoM album

Ministry of Magic has been hard at work this week finishing up our 4th full-length studio album, which will be available in the VERY, VERY, VERY near future.  Of all of our releases, this has been the biggest challenge, due to the geographical separation of the band.  This weekend we recorded vocals in four separate places.  Luke and Jason recorded their performances at Echo Base in LA.  Jeremy and Ryan recorded together in Iowa.  Mark enlisted the help of the incredibly talented Christian Caldeira (Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls) to lay down his tracks in Toronto.  I borrowed a friend’s studio equipment and recorded in Kansas City, where I live.
Despite the challenge, I am more excited about this one than any of our previous albums.  I think it’s the best songwriting, production, and performances we’ve ever done.  The newest album is also the most unapologetically poppy piece of work we’ve created.  It’s full of songs that would be great live.  The simple hooks and dancy beats should keep everyone happy and grooving in their apartments, houses, cars, bicycles, running shoes, covered wagons, and at our concerts.

As I write this, I’m listening through the final versions of the 12 tracks that will make up MoM #4.  I hope you enjoy them as much as we’ve enjoyed making them.  Look for some news from us later today to announce more about the album and some special treats we have to accompany the release.
